Tasks & duties
Grain millers may do some or all of the following:
- clean and prepare the grain for milling
- start the flow of grain through the milling machinery
- keep the grain moving
- operate the sifting and grinding equipment during the milling process
- take samples to check the quality of products
- make sure the quality is consistent
- check the bagging of products
- check the quantities of raw materials used and the quantities that are in storage
- complete forward planning by assessing the amount of products in stock, and the amount that will be needed for orders
- ensure the plant remains clean and hygienic
- do minor repairs on milling equipment.
