Tasks & duties
Roofers may do some or all of the following:
- attach roofing materials to buildings
- cut roofing iron to size
- remove damaged iron, tiles or other materials from roofs
- measure roofs
- install spouting and downpipes
- select and estimate the amount of materials to be used
- do minor repairs to structure of roofs
- prepare quotes and invoices if self-employed.

Specialisations
Roofers often specialise in residential or commercial (non-residential) roofing, although similar skills are required for both.
Roofers may also specialise in working with a particular kind of roofing material, such as tiles, shingle or roofing iron.
