Picture Framer - Tasks and specialisations

Tasks & duties
Picture framers may do some or all of the following:
- discuss the customer's requirements
- estimate and quote prices for the work to be done
- advise the customer on which frame and matt board (coloured borders) will suit their picture
- choose the framing materials
- measure the item to be framed and all the parts that make up the frame
- cut matt board, backing board, glass, frames and any other additional materials
- join pieces of frame together
- assemble all the parts to frame the item
- repair existing framed works
- buy and sell framed art works
- advise customers on colour and decor
- hang framed works in customers' homes or offices
- order unframed prints and/or sell framing materials and framed items
- keep records of stock and order more stock when necessary
- run their own business.
