Tasks & duties
Training and development managers:
- identify and plan for the present and future training needs of their organisations
- negotiate and plan training strategies with other managers and external providers
- oversee the budget for training and work resources such as videos, journals and books
- work with design and marketing staff to create training videos, posters and other resources
- develop training solutions
- oversee the cost-effectiveness of training
- recommend and plan training sessions to develop staff skills
- hire and manage training consultants, and negotiate fees and contracts
- assess the effectiveness of training design and delivery methods
- prepare and review training policies
- monitor industry trends such as technology
- may be part of government or industry committees.
