People in nursing, midwifery and care jobs assess patients’ health needs and monitor their development

Nursing, midwifery and care jobs involve the assessment, treatment and care of patients in a hospital, clinic or their own home. Work may include:
  • caring for patients, and administering medications, injections and immunisations, and changing dressings
  • preparing and assisting with special procedures and surgeries
  • carrying out health education, promotion and assessment in schools and the community
  • providing health care and advice to women during pregnancy, childbirth and the early weeks of a baby’s life.
