Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements to become an aluminium joiner, as skills are learned on the job. You are taught by a supervisor or experienced aluminium joiner.
Some employers prefer you to complete an apprenticeship and get a National Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery. These are offered by the Competenz industry training organisation, and the Window Association of New Zealand.
Secondary Education
There are no specific secondary education requirements for aluminium joiners. However, three years of secondary education is recommended and useful subjects include metal work, woodwork, English and maths.
