Entry Requirements
To become a train manager you need to have a driver's licence, and must pass a medical test. A first aid certificate may also be useful.
Training on the job
Before starting the job, train managers complete a short training course at the Woburn Rail School in Wellington. New train managers work alongside an experienced member of staff to pick up skills.
Useful Experience
Useful experience for train managers includes any customer service or cash-handling work.
