Working Conditions

Corporate/government lawyers work in offices, courts, libraries and at tribunals. Some are required to travel within New Zealand and overseas.

Equipment

Equipment used by corporate and government lawyers includes:
  • legal texts
  • law library resources, including online databases
  • computers and legal document software
  • office equipment, including Dictaphones
  • cellphones and fax machines.

Hours

Corporate/government lawyers usually work regular hours. They may work long hours at times, depending on deadlines and the amount of responsibility they have within their organisation.

 

Contact with people

Corporate/government lawyers work independently and as part of a team. They interact with clients and other professionals. They also instruct and co-ordinate lawyers from other organisations and consult with other members of their organisation.
