Working Conditions

Programmers work in offices and may travel locally or overseas to meet clients. Conditions may be stressful because they work to strict deadlines.

Equipment

Programmers use computer hardware and software, and technical manuals, many of which are now Internet-based. They may also use laptops, data-shows and video conferencing equipment.

 

Hours

Programmers usually work full time and often work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines. They may also be on call.

 

Contact with people

Programmers work alone and with a wide variety of people including clients, computer analysts, other programmers, managers and computer salespeople.
