Working Conditions
Electrical engineering technicians work in laboratories, workshops and testing rooms. Technicians working in the electrical supply industry often work on-site at power stations and substations.
They must follow strict safety procedures as they are usually working around high voltage electricity and may work at heights or in tight spaces.
Equipment
Equipment electrical engineering technicians use includes:
- computers
- electrical plans
- electrical circuit boards
- high voltage electrical testing equipment
- static-reducing equipment when working indoors
- anti static protective clothing, glasses, boots and hard hats.

Hours
Electrical engineering technicians usually work regular hours, but may work irregular and long hours to meet deadlines. They may work evenings and weekends, and are sometimes on call to fix emergency faults.

Electrical engineering technicians work with a variety of people including designers and design engineers, electrical engineers, electrical fitters, production and construction staff, and clients.
