Bricklayer - Working conditions

Working Conditions

Bricklayers work outside on construction sites and at clients' properties. They may also work in buildings constructing and repairing brickwork.

Conditions may be noisy and dirty depending on where they work. They may also be required to work at heights or in confined spaces.

Bricklayers working outdoors don't work in wet weather as water affects the mortar they use to lay bricks, blocks and tiles.

"Sometimes we work under shelter if it starts raining, but if it gets too wet we stop work because the mortar gets soggy and doesn't dry."

Russell Ritchie - Bricklayer
