Working Conditions

Service station attendants work in service station shops and forecourts, and are exposed to all weather conditions as well as petrol fumes.

The work can be tiring as service station attendants spend most of their time on their feet.

Equipment

Equipment service station attendants may use includes:
  • gas and petrol pumps
  • air pressure gauges
  • car cleaning equipment
  • car wash machines
  • cash registers.
Most service station attendants also wear uniforms.

Hours

Service station attendants work full or part-time hours. Many large service stations are open 24 hours a day and because of this, many service station attendants have to do shift work. This may include nights, weekends and long hours.
