Working Conditions

Models work in photographic and television studios, fashion shops, department stores and on catwalks.
 
They also work in different locations for photograhic shoots, which may include the outdoors in all weather conditions.
 
Models are not usually based in one area, so they often have to travel between towns and overseas.

Equipment

Models usually work with fashion clothes and make-up. They may need to carry a cellphone and diary.

 

Hours

Models work irregular hours and often work weekends and evenings. They often spend time travelling to locations and may be on call.

 

Contact with people

Models work as part of a team. They also interact with many people including:
  • other models
  • photographers
  • make-up artists
  • clothing designers
  • magazine and fashion editors and directors.
