Insurance claims officers work in offices, and sometimes travel locally to Disputes Tribunal hearings and to visit insurance loss adjusters. The nature of their work can be stressful.

Hours

Insurance claims officers usually work regular hours and may be on call.

 

Contact with people

Insurance claims officers usually work within a small team. They interact with a variety of people including:
  • clients
  • supervisors and management staff
  • other people in the insurance industry, such as insurance agents or brokers, representatives, motor vehicle assessors and loss adjusters
  • professionals such as solicitors, private investigators and accountants
  • retailers and valuers for obtaining quotes for damaged or stolen property
  • the police, medical and fire services.
