Industry sources indicate that the average gross salary for electrical technicians in 2008 was about $64,850, with the highest-paid 25% earning about $74,150, while the lowest-paid 25% earned an average of $50,200 a year.

According to the 2006 Census, electrical engineering technicians earned an average of $47,900 a year and worked an average of 42 hours per week. This includes full and part-time workers.

Career Progression

Electrical engineering technicians may move into supervisory roles overseeing a team of technicians. Some electrical engineering technicians may choose to complete a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent qualifications and become electrical engineers.
