Industry sources indicate that the average gross salary for health and safety managers or co-ordinators in 2008 was about $69,000, with the highest-paid 25% earning about $82,000, while the lowest-paid 25% earned an average of $54,500 a year.
According to the 2006 Census, health and safety inspectors earned an average of $49,700 a year and worked an average of 39 hours per week. This includes full and part-time workers.

Career Progression
Health and safety inspectors may progress to become technical specialists (who provide technical advice to employers and employees on health and safety issues) or departmental medical practitioners (people responsible for the health and wellbeing of employees in the work place).
They may move into management roles or become involved with health and safety policy.
Health and safety inspectors may also establish their own health and safety consultancy businesses, or become consultants.
