Salaries vary, but hat makers usually earn between $15,000 and $30,000 per year. Self-employed hat makers may have to supplement their income in winter, when business may be quiet.

According to the 2006 Census, hat makers earned an average of $24,300 a year and worked an average of 36 hours per week. This includes full and part-time workers.
