Salaries vary depending on experience, the size of the press, the amount of shift work, and if training and supervision is involved.
- Apprentices can expect to start on about $25,000 a year.
- After completion of a 30-month apprenticeship, salaries should increase to at least $37,500 a year.
- Senior sheet-fed printers can expect to earn between $50,000 and $80,000 a year.
The 2006 Census found the average pay for printing machinists, which includes sheet-fed printers, was $40,600 a year.
According to the 2006 Census, sheet-fed printers earned an average of $40,800 a year and worked an average of 40 hours per week. This includes full and part-time workers.
