Pay for taxi drivers varies, and depends on whether they own their own vehicle, the number of hours they drive, and the taxi company they work for.
- Most taxi drivers own their vehicle and/or a share in the taxi company, and they can earn up to $120,000 a year.
- Taxi drivers who drive someone else's taxi can expect to earn approximately $45,000 a year after costs, based on a 50-hour week.
According to the 2006 Census, taxi drivers earn an average of $25,000 a year; however, industry sources indicate that the true figure is approximately $45,000.

Career Progression
