Salaries vary depending on skills and experience, but insurance claims officers usually earn between $35,000 and $60,000 a year. Senior claims officers can expect to earn between $40,000 and $75,000 a year.
Remuneration will also be affected by:
- location – insurance claims officers usually earn between $42,000 and $65,000 a year in Auckland, compared with between $35,000 and $50,000 a year in Wellington and Christchurch.
- the type of claims – insurance claims officers who handle life insurance claims generally earn between $40,000 and $65,000 a year, whereas those who deal with general insurance claims can expect to earn between $35,000 and $55,000 a year.
According to the 2006 Census, insurance claims officers earned an average of $42,600 a year and worked an average of 38 hours per week. This includes full and part-time workers.
