What are the chances of getting a job?
The chances of getting a job as a sheet-fed printer are low.
New Zealand printing firms have been affected by the global recession and few vacancies are arising. Demand for sheet-fed printers has also been affected by increasing use of labour-saving technology.
A 28% increase in the number of printing trainees and apprentices between 2005 and 2008 may mean higher competition for vacancies that do arise.

Most sheet-fed printers are employed by commercial printing companies or newspaper publishers.
About 1,200 printing firms are in business in New Zealand. They range in size and may have five to 200 or more employees.
Where can I do this job?
Sheet-fed printers work throughout the country. However, opportunities are limited outside the main centres of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
