NZRB is the co-ordination point for New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (gallops), Harness Racing New Zealand (trotting and pacing), New Zealand Greyhound Racing and the TAB (which runs all betting on racing and sport in New Zealand). It is also responsible for the Judicial Control Authority; the legal body that administers the rules of racing for all three racing codes.  

The New Zealand Equine Academy offers training in stable practice and track riding skills to prepare graduates for a career as an apprentice jockey or stablegroom.  

The NZ Equine Industry Training Organisation facilitates training for people working in the equine industry. This includes the cadet apprenticeship scheme in thoroughbred racing, thoroughbred breeding, sport horse, stable practice, breeding, farrier, harness racing, racecourse management and equestrian coaching.
