What can I expect out of this qualification?
This national certificate recognises the intermediate skills and knowledge required in the dive industry. Holders of this qualification will have demonstrated competence in leading and guiding clients in snorkel diving, and supervising and controlling diver operations. The qualification also recognises the diversity in diving workplaces and the nature of work that they undertake. To reflect this, the qualification includes an elective section where candidates are able to choose standards relevant to their workplace.
This qualification builds on the foundation skills and knowledge recognised by the National Certificate in Diving (Foundation Skills) (Level 3) [Ref: 1321].
The National Certificate in Diving (Leadership) (Level 4) [Ref: 1322] provides the intermediate and prerequisite skills and experience required before people advance to a variety of dive-based occupational or instruction qualifications. The compulsory standards will allow entry to further training in the underwater construction such as Australia Dive Accreditation Scheme (ADAS) Part One and Two, recreational instruction such as the National Certificate in Diving (Instruction) (Level 6) [Ref: 1323], scientific and dive tourism sectors of the industry.
The National Certificate in Diving (Leadership (Level 4) [Ref: 1322] can enable people to gain employment within the dive tourism sector as a dive guide.
