Entry requirements

Candidates must have worked at a senior level implementing a safety management system within a recreation organisation, and must have been responsible for managing or assessing staff for a minimum of five years.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification will provide the recreation sector with individuals who can conduct safety audits on recreation organisations. The qualification certifies standards of professional practice for recreational safety auditors, and in turn enables confidence in the safety procedures of businesses offering recreation activities.
- This qualification is intended to supplement and integrate advanced technical recreational expertise and experience in the area of the activity being audited.
- Graduates of this qualification will operate under the requirements of ISO19011:2011: Guidelines for auditing management systems.
There is an optional Adventure Activities strand which is a requirement for those specialising in auditing adventure activities as defined in regulation 4 of the Health and Safety in Employment (Adventure Activities) Regulations 2011.
There is also an optional strand for those specialising in applying their auditing knowledge and skills to undertake Incident and Accident Investigations in recreation situations.
