It is recommended candidates hold either the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 2) [Ref: 0973] or the National Certificate in Employment Skills [Ref: 0231] or are able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide commercially competent employees for the joinery sector who are able to operate unsupervised as joiners in specialist or generalist joinery companies working with timber.

This qualification will provide for those individuals who are wishing to work or are already working in the industry as joiners, a credential that will support their career opportunities across a range of companies in the joinery sector.

Graduates of this qualification will have standards of trade practice for joinery that can provide customers with confidence in the products they receive.

The strands in this qualification allow graduates to specialise in areas of joinery.

The optional strands recognise the knowledge and skills required of cabinetry installation and Computer Numerical Controlled machinery.
