What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is for people already working as a main contract supervisor in a construction related industry, or for people who want to move into the role.
The qualification is designed to provide the construction industry with trained people who have the essential knowledge, skills and aptitude required to be a main contract supervisor on construction projects.
The skill outcomes support the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme, providing eligibility for a streamlined application process toward the Site Licence Classes 1 and 2.
Key Information for Students
General It is expected that applicants will have existing knowledge and skills in the trade that they will be supervising. Applicants will either have the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Supervisor) Level 4 or equivalent. OR Relevant current industry experience to be supported by a validated portfolio of industry experience Applicants will be working in a medium build or commercial environment. Academic Nil English Language entry requirements Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. This will be demonstrated by meeting the current NZQA requirements. Interviews An orientation evening will be held for all applicants to enable sharing of work experience, prior learning, and consideration whether this qualification is appropriate for their career path. The evening will also provide an opportunity to outline the programme and ensure that: the applicant has applied for the most appropriate programme. Selection Applicants who meet the entry requirements will be accepted on to the programme on a first-come-first served basis
