Entry requirements

It is strongly recommended that candidates have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Pest Control (Level 3) with strands in Rural Pest Control, Rural Pest Monitoring, and Urban Pest Control [Ref: 2212] prior to enrolment in this qualification.

Legislative requirements to hold a firearms license and/or controlled substance license must be met.

People who are using toxic agents to meet the requirements of this qualification must hold an approved handler certificate and/or controlled substance licence.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for people who have some experience as pest control operators who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in pest management.

It recognises the skills and knowledge of individuals who can, in a self-managed capacity, perform pest management tasks for pest animal species or pest plant species.

The qualification includes strands that recognise the distinct skills and knowledge required to carry out pest management for either animals or plants.
