The purpose of this qualification is to provide competent employees for the meat processing sector who are able to work as animal product examiners, under limited supervision, in a meat processing operation, carrying out ante-mortem examinations on stock or post-mortem examinations on meat products used for human consumption.

The learner will benefit by having a qualification that will allow them to work competently as animal product examiners in a meat processing operation, processing meat for human consumption. This qualification provides a training pathway that allows progression through the industry.

This qualification will ensure the establishment of standards of competent performance in completing ante-mortem examinations of stock or post-mortem examinations of animal products in a meat processing operation, processing meat products for human consumption.
