Entry requirements

It is recommended that people enrolling in this qualification hold the New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Level 3) [Ref: 2607] and the New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion (Patternmaking) (Level 4) [Ref: 2608], or have demonstrated equivalent skills and knowledge in the apparel and fashion manufacturing environment.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the apparel and fashion manufacturing sector with people who are able to use advanced technical skills in patternmaking, garment construction, and production to meet customer requirements and organisational procedures.

This qualification is suitable for experienced people working in the apparel and fashion manufacturing sector and recognises the wide range of specific technical skills and knowledge required to operate as production assistants, merchandise assistants, specification technicians, assistant stylists and assistant designers.

Graduates will be capable of complete self-management of learning and performance within defined contexts.
