About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is for people wanting to gain animation skills and knowledge required to work as a specialist animator in a studio environment or freelance capacity.

The animation industry and creative and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit by having people trained in specialised skills in animation.

Graduates will be capable of working independently and leading a team to produce specialised animated works.

Minimum requirements

The programme is open to both domestic and international applicants. Domestic applicants must have completed and been awarded the New Zealand Diploma in Animation (Level 5). International applicants must be 18 years or older, have completed and been awarded the New Zealand Diploma in Animation (Level 5) and have proof that they have gained within the last 2 years English language skills equivalent to IELT s level 6 with no band score lower than 5.5. All applicants must complete an application form, provide necessary documents and submit a portfolio of related work. Applicants must participate in an interview with the School and/or Course director.
