It is recommended that people achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3) with an optional strand in Plant Operation [Ref: 3856], or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience, before enrolling on programmes leading to this qualification.

What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the infrastructure industry with experienced and competent individuals who have attained the skills and knowledge to produce quality outcomes in a range of civil infrastructure works operations.
The qualification recognises the skills and knowledge required to operate at tradesperson-level building and maintaining good quality civil infrastructure, while the strands allow specialisation in Earthworks, Road Construction, or Road Maintenance.
The qualification can contribute towards eligibility for registration with the Civil Trades Certification Board (CTCB).
Graduates will be capable of working safely to industry standards and specifications under broad guidance, taking responsibility for their own work and some responsibility for the performance of others.
