Entry requirements

Applicants are required to hold i) a Bachelor's Degree, or ii) an approved Graduate Certificate or Diploma, or iii)
an approved Advanced level 7 Diploma, or iv) equivalent level capabilities through appropriate work or professional experience. International learners are required to have achieved an Academic IELTS of 6.5 in one recent test event with no band score lower than 6 or an equivalent NZQA-approved English language standard. All applicants will be required to complete an application for enrolment form, a 200 to 400-word leadership project proposal including a statement about how their project success might be evaluated, and undertake an in-person or Skype interview.

The strategic purpose of this qualification is to provide the public, private, community and not-for-profit sectors with professional level leaders who can facilitate high performing teams and/or projects, and who are ready for further education and work-ready. Recent developments in the business, education, health and social sectors now require professional application-capable leaders who possess the advanced, applied and research-based competencies and capabilities to lead high-performing teams and projects in order to improve the achievement of personal and organisational objectives in a range of industries and professions. This qualification addresses the need for professional level leaders of action in the business, education, health and social sectors, in New Zealand and internationally. Graduates' leadership-in-action capabilities will be underpinned by their interests, a range of values-based theoretical and conceptual frameworks and their implementation, together with current research and advanced communication methodologies.
