Key Information for Students
Applicants must have turned 16 years of age prior to starting the course. International applicants studying in New Zealand must have turned 18 years of age prior to starting the course. Applicants will be required to provide written referee reports as part of the application process and must also declare any physical or learning disability, or diverse needs that may impact on their performance as a student. Applicants for the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 6) must have: a) Completed the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) or equivalent Students with English as an additional language are required to provide proof of their English language competency by providing an overall IELTS (Academic) results issued within the last two years with an overall score of at least 6.0, with a writing score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, or equivalent. IELTS scores may be combined from two tests as long as on one test a minimum of 6.0 overall and 5.5 in each component is achieved, or equivalent. All applicants to the program are required to have a police vetting check through the New Zealand Police to ascertain their character under the Vulnerable Children s Act 2015. Applicants may be required to succeed in a personal interview.
