Purpose of award

It is awarded annually to the Trust district’s top chemistry student.

Selection criteria

The scholarship will be awarded annually to the Trust district’s top chemistry student, selected by agreement by Masterton secondary school principals.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

The student must be intending to study towards a science degree, and the scholarship will be awarded for three years on confirmation of result and re-enrolment.

Applications open: 1 February - 31 March.

History or background of award

This scholarship was established in 2002 in recognition of the outstanding achievements of former Masterton resident, Professor Alan MacDiarmid.

Additional information

Professor Alan MacDiarmid was awarded the Nobel Prize in Science.
