What does the scholarship get me?
$1,000 each.

Purpose of award
To offer assistance to students from rural areas to obtain tertiary qualification.
Selection criteria
NZ Citizens only.
How do students apply?

The application form must be accompanied by the following:
a) a letter, written by the applicant, outlining the reasons for requiring this financial assistance, the reasons for the proposed course of study and the intended use of the qualification
b) a copy of the previous year’s study results or the last school report (if within three years); or an academic reference.
c) a character reference from a responsible Officer of the Rural Women New Zealand Branch concerning the circumstances of the family and the need for assistance for the applicant's education
d) a character reference from a responsible citizen other than a teacher or member of the Rural Women New Zealand Branch
e) proof of enrolment at University, Polytechnic or College for a full year course

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Applications will be considered by the Bursary Committee of Rural Women New Zealand Council at the May meeting.
Payment of the Bursary will be made by 31 May to the applicant.

History or background of award
Rural Women New Zealand Bursaries and Grants are available each year to assist with education, learning and personal development; for community projects and activities; the purchase of resources; and in times of natural disaster, all which benefits the rural community.
Additional information
Rural Women New Zealand National Office must be advised immediately if the applicant withdraws before
completing the academic year, as a proportional refund will be expected.
