Purpose of award

The main purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage and support undergraduate students in the study of Information Systems at Stage II.

Selection criteria

The basis of selection will be academic merit (a minimum GPA of 7.00 across Stage I Commerce courses), leadership potential, written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal abilities, project management skills and demonstrated skills as a self-starter. Applicants are required to submit an essay with their application outlining their career goals and aspirations, and their philosophy of service, including contribution to their community

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

The Scholarship will be paid in two instalments: one in the first, and one in the second semester. The Scholarship is tenable by students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.

How do students apply?

Scholarship applications will usually open around six weeks before the closing date. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible before you apply.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

Approximately 6 weeks after the Scholarshp closes.

Decision makers

The Scholarships will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Dean of the Business School (or nominee), the Head of the Department of Information Systems (or nominee) and one representative of the EY New Zealand.

History or background of award

The Scholarship was established in 2014 and is funded by EY New Zealand.

Additional information

Students must have completed INFOSYS 110 and intend to major in information systems to be eligible to apply. Recipients of the EY Scholarship in Information Systems will have the opportunity of two days work experience with EY New Zealand. The recipient will receive entry into the EY assessment day for the EY Graduate & Intern Programme (subject to completion of the entry form).
