Purpose of award

This scholarship supports students at the University of Canterbury to "fast-track" their ideas and inventions towards reality by working on their venture full time over a summer break as participants in the UCE Summer Startup Programme. Both for-profit and social ventures are supported.

Selection criteria

Applicants must be enrolled full-time or part-time at the University of Canterbury at the time of application. Applicants who are international students must hold a New Zealand Student Visa that is valid throughout the summer break that begins in the year of application.

Decision makers

The scholarship willbe awarded by the University Council, on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising:
a.the Director of Research & Innovation(or nominee);and
b.the Manager of UC Innovators (or nominee); andc.a person nominated by the Director of Research & Innovation (or nominee).

History or background of award

This scholarship was established by UC Innovators in 2013. UC Innovators encouragesand supportsentrepreneurship and innovation amongst all studentsat the University.
