Purpose of award

Māori and Pasifika aged between 16 and 40 are invited to apply for a Trades Training Scholarship which will see you fully equipped to enter the workforce with a relevant pre-trade qualification that will really lead you places. Equipped with a qualification, Passport to Work and the tools** to do your job, you will be supported to achieve your very best and realise your goals.

Selection criteria

Pasifika applicants will be chosen because they:
• Show a genuine desire to succeed in their chosen trades programme
• Are committed to completing the practical and theory parts of the programme
• Are keen to get a job in one of the industries which these programmes prepare them for

Maori Applicants will be chosen because they:
• Show a genuine desire to succeed in their chosen trades programme
• Are committed to completing the practical and theory parts of the programme
• Are keen to get a job in one of the industries which these programmes prepare them for
• Commitment to Hapu, Iwi and / or Māori workforce development

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

1. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis that the information supplied is true and correct. WelTec or Whitireia can withdraw the scholarship if the information is proved to be inaccurate or incomplete.
2. If you turn down the scholarship, or do not accept the scholarship by the required date, the Selection Panel may offer the scholarship to another applicant. The scholarship must be for study in 2016.
3. The decision of the Selection Panel is final.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

The Selection Panel will create a shortlist from the information you provide in the scholarship application, based on the selection criteria listed above. Shortlisted applicants may be asked to attend an interview with the Selection Panel.
