Purpose of award
Open to adult students studying at the University of Waikato's Tauranga campus and residing in the areas administered by Tauranga City Council or Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
The Scholarship will be open annually to applications from adult students (25 years and over) studying at the University of Waikato's Tauranga campus in the following year and residing in the areas administered by Tauranga City Council or Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
In selecting the successful applicant for the Scholarship, the Selection Panel may take academic merit, financial circumstances, and contribution to the community into consideration.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
To be eligible, applicants must:
a)be 25 years or over
b)enrol at the University of Waikato Tauranga Campus
c)reside in the areas administered by TaurangaCity Council or Western Bay of Plenty District Council
How do students apply?
If you are new to the University of Waikato you will need to:
Complete an Application to Enrol BEFORE you can have access to apply for Scholarships and Awards (This application is not a commitment to study here at the University of Waikato and can be withdrawn or updated at any time).

Click on the ‘Scholarships’ tab and select the scholarship you wish to apply for from the list of scholarships at the bottom of the page.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Students will be advised in writing as to the outcome of the scholarship
The Scholarships shall be awarded each year by the University of Waikato Scholarships Committee, on the recommendation of the Selection Panel. The Selection Panel will consist of two representatives of the Acorn Foundation and a representative from the University of Waikato's Tauranga campus.
History or background of award
The Acorn Foundation is a charitable trust which was formed in 2003, created by and for the people of Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty community.
The Scholarship will be paid in one lump sum to the recipient after the withdrawal date for A semester in the year following the award.
