Purpose of award

One scholarship will be awarded annually to a full time student about to enter their final year of a BAgrSc at Lincoln University. The normal place of residence of applicants should be within the Canterbury Land District.

Selection criteria

Available to New Zealand/Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident Students

* The criterion for the award shall be academic merit.
* Final year B Ag Sci
In the event that two or more applicants being of equal or similar academic merit, preference will be given to an applicant who usually resides in the area of Canterbury, south of the Selwyn River, north of the Rakaia River and east of State Highway One.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

The Scholarship may be terminated by the Vice-Chancellor at any time on receipt of a report from the Lincoln University Undergraduate Scholarships Committee that the conduct or progress of the awardee has been unsatisfactory.

Send the completed application form to the Scholarships Office before the closing date.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

Decision is notified within one month of closing date. Award is paid via credit to student's fees account.

Decision makers

The scholarship is to be awarded by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of a selection committee which shall comprise:

i) the Vice-Chancellor or nominee
ii) the Convenor of the Undergraduate Scholarships Committee or nominee
iii) a representative of the Lochhead family.

History or background of award

This scholarship was established in 1998 in memory of Alexander David Lochhead (1912-1994) of Lakeside.
