At the discretion of the HB Fruitgrowers Association with no one scholarship exceeding $2000

Purpose of award

To encourage persons domiciled in Hawke's Bay to undertake further education or training in Horticulture (pertaining to Pipfruit, Summerfruit & Kiwifruit) through University, Polytechnic or other NZQA accredited courses. It is hoped that scholarship recipients will ultimately seek employment in Hawkes' Bay and pass on the benefits of their learning to the Hawkes' Bay community and its industries.

Selection criteria

Applicants must live in the Hawke's Bay area.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

Applicants are notified by approximately mid-November.

A sub-committee of the HBFA Executive Committee.

*Applicants maybe required to attend an interview.

History or background of award

The HBFA is a voluntary organisation set up to promote, foster and protect the fruit industry and to establish a closer bond of unity and co-operation amongst growers particularly those within the Hawke's Bay district.
