Purpose of award
This one-year bursary is available to students undertaking a full-time course of at least one year in an agricultural subject.
Any person who is undertaking a full-time study of at least one year in an agricultural subject. Agriculture includes related studies such as horticulture, veterinary, bee keeping, aqua farming, viticulture etc.
Any person meeting the above criteria and who is a New Zealand citizen is eligible to apply for this Bursary.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
The application form must be accompanied by the following:
a) a letter, written by the applicant, outlining the reasons for requiring this financial assistance, the reasons for the proposed course of study and the intended use of the qualification
b) a copy of the previous years study results or the last school report (if within three years); or an academic reference.
c) a character reference from a responsible Officer of the Rural Women New Zealand Branch concerning the circumstances of the family and the need for assistance for the applicant's education
d) a character reference from a responsible citizen other than a teacher or member of the Rural Women New Zealand Branch
e) proof of enrolment at University, Polytechnic or College for a full year course

Note 2: If this application is accompanied by an application for either a Rural Women New Zealand Tertiary or a Rural Women New Zealand TextBook /Resource Grant, only one set of supporting documents is required.
How do students apply?
How and when do students learn of the decision?
All candidates will be notified of the results of their application. Payment of the Bursary will be made by 31 May to the applicant.
Applications will be considered by the Bursary Committee of Rural Women New Zealand Council at the May meeting. The decision of the Committee is final and all candidates will be notified of the results of their application.
History or background of award
The Rural Women New Zealand Bursaries and Grants are available each year to assist with education, learning and personal development; for community projects and activities; the purchase of resources; and in times of natural disaster, all which benefits the rural community.
Payment of the Bursary will be made by 31 May to the applicant. Rural Women New Zealand National Office must be advised immediately if the applicant withdraws before completing the academic year, as a proportional refund will be expected.
