What does the scholarship get me?
$1,500 per year.

Purpose of award
A grant for students in the horticultural, agricultural, veterinary, bee-keeping, aqua farming, viticulture or silviculture fields, enrolled in a course of at least one year full-time and who are residents of Hawke's Bay.
Any person meeting the criteria who is a New Zealand citizen and a resident in the Hawkes Bay District is eligible to apply for this Bursary.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Applicants must provide proof of their enrolment in courses outlined in application form. Further conditions may apply.
How do students apply?

1. This application form must be accompanied by the following:
a) a letter, written by the applicant, outlining the reasons for requiring this financial assistance, the reasons for the proposed course of study and the intended use of the qualification
b) a copy of the previous year's study results, or the last school report (if within three years), or an academic reference.
c) Three character references, other than a teacher, confirming the circumstances of the family and the need for financial assistance for the applicant's education, of which one will be from the agricultural sector
d) proof of enrolment at University or Polytechnic for at least a one year full time course

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Payment of the Bursary will be made by 1 June to the applicant.
Applications will be considered by the Bursary Committee of Rural Women New Zealand Council at the May meeting.
History or background of award
The organisation was established by women who wanted better social and economic conditions for rural people. For over eighty years we have been at the forefront of rural issues, working to strengthen rural communities. We are also a funding source for individuals through our bursary scheme, and for rural communities through sponsorship and regional funding programmes.
