Purpose of award
The main purpose of the Scholarship is to assist students undertaking postgraduate study in general practice and primary health care, in particular for those who are undertaking research of benefit to the South Auckland area.
Selection criteria
Selection will be based on academic merit and the quality of the research proposal or project. Preference will be given to students undertaking research of benefit to the South Auckland area.
How do students apply?

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Approximately six weeks after the closing date by letter or email.
Decision makers
The Scholarship will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the), Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (or nominee), the Head of the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care (or nominee) and one other academic staff member of the Department, appointed by the Head of Department.
History or background of award
The Scholarship was established in 2005 and is funded by the residual funds of The University of Auckland Primary Health Care Trust.
Additional information
The Scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who has paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for enrolment in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, who is undertaking postgraduate research in the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care.
The Scholarship is tenable by students who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
The Scholarship's emolument will be paid in two instalments: one in the first, and one in the second semester.
