Purpose of award

The Vetora Study Grant has been established to encourage and develop careers for New Zealanders in production animal health. As such, preference will be given to students who are interested in production animal medicine and demonstrate an aptitude for leadership in the production animal health sector.

Selection criteria

The Vetora (previously VETFOCUS) Study Grant will be allocated over a two-year period and is open to students who are in their fourth year of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree, and who are normally resident in New Zealand.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake three weeks of 'Seeing Practice' in either their fourth or final year of the Veterinary Science programme and to make a short clinical presentation to our veterinary team during their placement.

The successful applicant will be required to pass their fourth year to be eligible for the second allocation of the grant.

How do students apply?

The applicant should include their CV and a brief statement of no more than one A4 page highlighting their engagement with animal production and affirming their future career objectives.

Up to 5 applicants will be selected to attend an interview in Te Awamutu and the surrounding region from in early July. Accommodation and return airfares will be provided.

Applicants will be notified by mid May if they are required to attend the interview.
