Purpose of award
Funds are available for assistance with travel, accommodation and education for young adults who wish to be trained in farming. Application forms for individuals in scondary education can be downloaded below.
Funds are available for students taking courses at farming training institutions which are willing to take people who are unable to fund their own way. Application forms for individuals in tertiary education can be downloaded below.
Applicants should be from the Horowhenua, Manawatu, Wanganui, Taranaki and Wairarapa and Wellington regions (PSC Region).
(i) students who want to be trained in farming and would be likely to benefit from such training and have a need for assistance on account of the unsuitability of their existing environment or their state of health;
(ii) students who for other good reason would otherwise not readily have the opportunity to undertake such studies;
(iii) students who, in the opinion of and at the unfettered discretion of the Trustee would find benefit from such assistance.
Funding is not normally given to Year 9 students attending Wairarapa College.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
A Grant Evaluation Form (provided on approval of grant) must be completed and returned by 31 October of the same year the grant has been received.

Applicants are notified of the decision within six weeks of closing date.
Tertiary Grants will be payable upon receipt of a letter from the relevant Institution setting out a list of subjects for which the applicant has enrolled and also receipt of confirmation from the Dean of Faculty or similar senior person at the Institution that the applicant has begun his course.
History or background of award
Originally a farm was gifted in trust. This was subsequently sold, and the proceeds invested to provide an income for grants.
The Trust also accepts applications from organisations providing farming training, and from organisations organising camping for youth/children in a Christian environment.
