Purpose of award

The main purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage Mount Albert Grammar School students to study Engineering at the University of Auckland.

Selection criteria

The Scholarship will be offered to students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand, currently in their final year at Mount Albert Grammar School (MAGS) and intending to enrol full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) or associate conjoint programme at the University of Auckland in the following year.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

As a condition of tenure, recipients will be required to maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 6.00(equivalent to a B+ average) in each semester of study.

Decision makers

The Scholarship will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (or nominee), the Principal of Mount Albert Grammar School (or nominee) and a representative of the donor or a member of staff of the Faculty of Engineering nominated by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

History or background of award

The Scholarship was established in 2017 and is funded by Jim Greatbanks, an alumnus of the University of Auckland Faculty of Engineering and Mount Albert Grammar School (MAGS).
