20 University Scholarships and 8 Postgraduate Scholarships.
Purpose of award
The Freemasons Scholarships are to assist able students who are active in their involvement in the community, to complete their university education in their chosen field.
Selection criteria
This year eight Postgraduate Scholarships of $10,000 each and 20 University Scholarships of $6,000 each will be offered to students attending universities at: Auckland, AUT, Waikato, Masssey, Victoria, Canterbury, Lincoln, and Otago.
Applicable study:Bachelors degree, Bachelors (Hons), Graduate Diploma, PGDip, Masters degree (Research) or Doctorate degree in any subject
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Scholarship applications will usually open around 6 weeks before the closing date. We recommend you check the form early for any request sections, in case a referee or supervisor is required to support your application and to familiarise yourself with the form. Apart from any sections that are sent to a referee to endorse, you can go in to your form and amend your answers for all other sections up to the closing date. All sections (including any request sections) must be submitted by the closing date, which is midnight on the specified date (unless stated otherwise). We recommend you do not have two different scholarship applications open within the same browser.
Successful scholars are expected to use their scholarship to defray expenses related to their attendance at University.
How do students apply?
Scholarship applications will usually open around six weeks before the closing date. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible before you apply.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
In addition, all scholars will be required to attend an award presentation in May.
Decision makers
Outcomes are determined by a selection committee and are usually notified around six weeks after the closing date.
History or background of award
The Freemasons Scholarships are provided annually by Freemasons New Zealand and are administered by The Freemasons Charity.
