The grant is intended to help you with costs associated with gaining your education. It can be tuition fees, course materials or even childcare. It will depend on your particular situation. Be sure to identify how you intend to use the funds on your application form.

Purpose of award

BPW Hawera awards a sum of money to a recipient who needs assistance with meeting the costs of gaining an/further education.

Selection criteria

You need to be aged 18 years or older and a resident in South Taranaki.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

If you are a successful recipient and you would like a mentor, we will try to match you to someone who has expertise and experience in the field of study you are undertaking.
After you have been introduced to each other, we will leave you to talk about what the relationship will involve and how it will work.
You need to know that the mentor is not there to do your homework for you.
You should think of her as someone to help you think through your ideas and provide advice on succeeding in your assessment work.

Awarded on 16th November 2020 at the monthly BPW dinner meeting.

Decision makers

A sub-committee will consider your application and you will be asked to meet with them to have a chat about your studies and your involvement in the community.

History or background of award

Business & Professional Women (BPW) Hawera is one of 13 clubs affiliated to BPW New Zealand. BPW is a worldwide organisation working for women. It was created to link business and professional women throughout the world to provide support, to lobby for change and to promote ongoing advancement of the status of women.

Additional information

This year (with your agreement) we will also try to match you to a BPW member who has experience and expertise in the area of your study. They will be available from time to time over the next year to support and mentor you through your studies.
