Purpose of award

Up to ten Scholarships are awarded each year to encourage students to participate in exchange programmes;provide financial support to students approved for exchange programmes; and,promote exchange destinations most relevant for management:

Selection criteria

The awards are offered on the basis of:
academic performance;
perceived benefits of the exchange programme; and
reasons for choosing a particular institution and/or country
Preference will be given to students who have achieved a minimum of A-grade average in the last two semesters.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

The Scholarship may be held with any other bursary, scholarship or award, provided that the regulations of the other award allow this.
The Scholarships Committee mayterminate an Award at any time, and recoup any funds disbursed, if the holder withdraws from the University during the tenure of the Award, brings the University into disrepute, or is otherwise not complying with the regulations governing the Award.
The holder of a Scholarship shall have the right to appeal to the Education Committee against any decision to terminate the award.
By accepting a Scholarship, a recipient agrees to participate in any publicity concerning the Scholarship arranged by the University of Waikato.

How do students apply?

When completing the online Scholarship application, each applicant must:
- download, complete, and upload the Personal Statement form that includes (but is not limited to) the following subheadings:oexchange detailsobenefits of exchangeocareer aspirations; and,ointernational experience.
- upload a brief CV (of no more than three pages in length

How and when do students learn of the decision?

Successful applicants will be advised of the offer of a Scholarship within six weeks of the closing date.
The offer of a Scholarship must be accepted by the date indicated in the letter of offer. If a candidate declines a Scholarship, or does not take it up, the Selection Panel may offer the Scholarship to another applicant.
A Scholarship shall be taken up in the semester for which it is offered.
Any exception or variation to these arrangements must be approved by the Selection Panel.

Decision makers

The Selection Panel will comprise the Waikato Management School’s Dean, Associate Dean International, Student Centre Manager, and Scholarships Committee member (or nominees).
The Selection Panel may refrain from making a recommendation if it finds no candidate of sufficient merit.
All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application.
The Selection Panel’s decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into following the selection meeting.
