Purpose of award

The scholarship is for educational purposes for people who have completed their secondary school education or who are in their final year of secondary school.

Selection criteria

Applications are open for one scholarship for residents of Kaingaroa, Minginui, Ruatahuna, Te Whaiti, Murupara and immediate surrounding areas. The scholarship is for educational purposes for people who have completed their secondary school education or who are in their final year of secondary school. The scholarship can be used, for example, for study at a university, polytechnic or private training provider located in New Zealand, or for the study costs associated with an apprenticeship.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

The scholarship must be used for a charitable purpose and funds must be spent in New Zealand.

How do students apply?

Applications open for one scholarship for residents of Kaingaroa, Minginui, Ruatahuna, Te Whaiti, Murupara and immediate surrounding areas on 1 August 2020. 
Late applications will not be accepted. An application form will be provided closer to that time.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

The scholarship will be presented to the successful applicant in December 2019

History or background of award

What is the Geyser Community Foundation?

The Geyser Community Foundation is an independent, local, not-for-profit charitable trust whose main role is to encourage charitable giving in the Rotorua and Taupo communities.  We provide specialist fund management and grant-making expertise to a variety of local people who want to contribute to our communities' long term development.
 

Additional information

The successful applicant must be available for promotional interviews for the Geyser Community Foundation, and information about their scholarship and progress may be used in Geyser Community Foundation promotional material.
